The excitement in the air at the BCF Iftar was palpable as the legendary former Indian Cricket Captain Mohammad Azharuddin spoke from the heart and expressed his desire to ensure that cricket in Bahrain grows quickly to international levels.

“I will do whatever I can to help cricket grow quickly in Bahrain. From what I have seen in the short time I have been here, there is plenty of talent but it needs to be supported by proper infrastructure,” said Azhar. But what really got the crowd cheering wildly was his request to the guest of honour, Indian Ambassador to Bahrain, H

E Piyush Srivastava, to help get things moving forward in terms of the infrastructure.

Flanked by BCF chairman Hatim Dadabai and chairman, advisory board Mohammad Mansoor, Azharuddin took the time to answer questions posed by several Bahrain national team members, support staff, and invited guests. He even explained his trademark collar-up style came about!

His encouraging words and demeanour will definitely boost the morale of budding cricketing talent on the island.
