This match was a classic case of the result not truly reflecting the scenes on the ground.
While Bahrain lost to UAE by 5 wickets, the silver lining was the batting of Haider Butt who was the highest run-scorer of the match at 59. What added to his superb performance as he came in after more than half the team was back in the pavilion after a dismal start at one point the team was tottering at 18 for 3 after 6 overs and it looked like Bahrain might be bundled out for under a 100.
However, our batting does run deep and against a strong team like UAE, our bowlers took the fight to them making them work for the win. There were some good shots from Junaid and Sohail as well but they couldn’t survive for long against UAE’s clinical attack. Also, two overs by Haider and Majid cost us 30 runs which shifted the whole momentum in favour of UAE who eventually won by 5 wkts.
