Bahrain Batting Falters: Batting first after being put into bat by Kuwait, the Bahrain batters failed to capitalise on a solid start 42 in 6 overs by openers Umer Toor (27 runs in 27 balls 1×4, 2×6) and Imran Butt (20 runs in 18 balls 1×4, 1×6).
The middle order failed to deliver the second match in a row. Two run-outs, one involving Imran Javed not helping the team’s cause to put up a competitive total. With medium pacer Rizwan`s onslaught ( 34 runs Not out in 13 balls, 4 x 6`s ) Bahrain could muster only 123 runs losing 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, a below-par total.
Ali Dawood gave a glimmer of hope to Bahrain by picking up 2 wickets in the first over of the Kuwait run chase.
The score at the end of Ali`s first over was 2 for 2 but Meet Bhavsar ( 76 Not Out in 49 balls, 6 x4`s , 2x 6`s) with a strike rate of 155 and Usman Patel ( 43 Not out in 33 balls, 3×4`s, 2×6`s) strike rate of 130 ensured there was no further wicket loss and chased down the target in only 13.5 overs.
Kuwait currently tops the table with 2 wins in 2 games. Bahrain’s next match will be on 18th September against Saudi Arabia.
