Bahrain’s Women Cricket Team proved their mettle in their first series abroad. In the GCC Women’s T20 Championship Cup being held in Oman, in their match against KSA, Bahrain squad broke several world records:
– Rasangika Herath becomes the highest run-scorer in women’s T20 cricket with 161 not out against Saudi Arabia in 66 balls with 31 fours. The previous record was held by Aussie AJ Healy with 148*.
– Highest Total in a Women’s T20 match 318/1. The previous record was the Uganda women’s team with a score of 314/2.
– Bahrain squad also broke the record for average runs per wicket 318/1. The previous record was held by Tanzania Women’s Team for 285/1 against Mali Women’s team.
– Bahrain Women’s team broke the record for the highest run rate in a completed innings with a run rate of 15.9.
– The Team also broke the record for the highest partnership for the second wicket – between Tharanga Gajanayake and Rasangika Herath of 255 runs
– This is partnership is also the second-highest partnership in women’s T20 Cricket
– Bahrain also scored the second-largest victory margin winning by 269 runs.
