Cricket inspires us all and makes even the most distinguished amongst us channel our inner cricketer when a bat is in our hands.
That is exactly what happened when Bahrain Cricket Federation (BCF) in association with the Indian Overseas Community (IOC) Bahrain and under the patronage of the Embassy of India, Bahrain, organised IOC Inter States Cricket Tournament, as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav India @75. Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastava was the chief guest, while Mohammed Kooheji (2nd vice chairman-Bahrain Chamber), Aarif Hejris (MD-Diyar Al Muharraq / chairman-BPDA), Yousif Lori (director of information and follow up at Capital Governorate), Dr Abdurahman Khashram (Bahrain Club chairman) were guests of honour.
And as you can see in the video, they all had a go with the bat. This included BCF president Hatim Dadabai and IOC Bahrain president and BCF advisory committee chairman Mohammad Mansoor, President, Indian Overseas community as well.
The event itself saw the participation of eight teams representing Indian states and Maharashtra won the tournament defeating Tamil Nadu in the final. The awardees were Maharashtra’s Natique (Man of the Series and Man of the Match); Tamil Nadu’s Kartik Palaniappan (Best Batsman); Tamil Nadu’s Gnaneswaran (Best Bowler).
We would rewatch the video for the pure joy on the faces of our Chief Guest and Guests of Honour as they attempted to thwack the ball for a six.
