Bahrain had a great start to its campaign in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup winning its first match by a whopping 132 runs.

Bahrain’s opening match was against Singapore on 20th April at the TU grounds in Nepal where we won the toss and elected to bat first.

Shahbaz Bader played a masterful inning, the kind we have come to expect from him, scoring 76 runs off 98 balls with a whopping 8 fours and a six. He was awarded the man of the match for his powerful batting. Meanwhile, Fiaz Ahmed carried the second part of the innings with a masterful 79 off 59 balls with 9 fours as well as a six. Sohail Ahmed came close to his half-century scoring 46 runs in 80 runs.

The bowlers also played their part commendably with Imran Anwar picking up four wickets giving away 24 runs in 9 overs with an economy rate of 2.66. Rizwan Butt took three wickets in 9.1 overs including two maidens giving away 38 runs. Abdul Majid took 2 wickets and Ali Dawood picked up one.

Bahrain plays Kuwait next on the 24th April at 6.45 am local time.

The Asian Cricket Council Premier Cup pits 10 of the region’s best-emerging teams in 50-over action in Nepal as the final step in qualification for the Asia Cup 2023.

The 10 teams are split into two groups for the tournament where Oman, Qatar, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia are in Group A with hosts Nepal while Bahrain is in Group B alongside UAE, Hong Kong, Kuwait and Singapore. The teams will battle it out in Kathmandu for a spot in the semi-finals followed by a final that will decide the last remaining qualification spot at the Asia Cup 2023.
