Team Bahrain lost to host Qatar in the first game of the 
by D/L method.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Bahrain restricted Qatar to 138/8 in the stipulated 20 overs.
Muhammed Tanveer was the top scorer with a fluent 40 runs in 31 balls 1- 4`s & 3 – 6`s. Himanshu Rathod made a useful 23 runs down the order. Majid Abbasi was the most successful Bahrain bowler with figures 4 overs 1 maiden 11 runs and 2 wickets. Pacers Ali Dawood and Sathyaiah picked up a wicket each while Debutant spinner Mohsin Zaki picked up one wicket as well.
Chasing 139 runs to win, Bahrain lost its first wicket of Captain Umer cheaply with the score reading 13 in only the 2nd over of the innings. The other opener Imran Butt was involved in a mix-up and got run out in the fifth over. No.3 batter Ahmer also fell cheaply for 11 runs leg before the wicket.
At this juncture, during 6.2 overs there was a stoppage in play due to failed lights in one of the towers that resulted in Overs being reduced to 17. The revised target was 124. Bahrain was reeling at 36 for 3 in 6.2 overs.
Momentum was lost with wickets falling at regular intervals until Imran Javed made a brisk 37 runs in 27 balls with 2-4`s & 2 – 6`s and put a brief partnership of 36 with Sathyaiah. Muhammed Jabir and Himanshu Rathod picked up 2 wickets each. Bahrain fell short in the end and finished with 104/7in 17 overs.
Qatar won the match by 19 runs DLS method. Himanshu Rathod was the player of the match for his all-round performance.
